OR core stabilization[Title/Abstract]) OR core strength[Title/Abstract]) AND strength[Title/Abstract] or general strength[Title/Abstract].

ABSTRACT

Training and conditioning of the core, strength and athletic performance: a systematic review

Core muscle development (stabilizing and generating trunk and hip movement) is an integral part of physical training, but there is no consensus about the effects of Core strength training on general athletic performance as well as on the Force. In this way the present study aimed to analyze if there is a beneficial effect of Core training on general strength and athletic performance. A systematic approach was used to identify the studies eligible for this review in the MEDLINE / Pubmed and Scielo databases by the following terms and logical operators: (((core training [Title / Abstract]) OR core stabilization [Title / Abstract]) OR core strength [Title / Abstract]. The initial search resulted in 212 articles published, later the initial search was delimited a period of publications of 2006 -2016, selected only articles published in the English language and from researches with humans. After analysis of the titles, the abstracts were read and only those who evaluated the relationship of Core strength to the development of general or distal force were selected. Following the application of the exclusion criteria described above, only thirty-two studies remained. Of the remaining 32, the main results and proposed interventions were stabilization training with a focus on treatments of low back pain of sedentary individuals, postural deviations and injury prevention. Regarding the influence on strength, only sport performance was the focus of the articles, where they demonstrate relations between the conditioning of the Core region and the global sporting performance. As strategies the articles mainly point out the use of stable bases and unstable bases for the development of Core stabilization. Therefore, we believe that the literature still requires systematic clinical trials and study that aim to verify the effects of the conditioning of the Core on the general force.
