Relationship between motor skill levels and flexibility in students from 11 to 12 years of the state of Rio de Janeiro: a descriptive cross-sectional study
Abstract
Flexibility has been described in some studies as essential to reach the mature stage of motor skills in children. Seeking to better understand this parity, the goal here is to determine the association between the development of motor skills and the level of muscular flexibility in students from 11 to 12 years of a private school in Rio de Janeiro. To this end, we propose a descriptive cross-sectional in which 96 students were assessed through observation form, shooting, sit and reach test and analytical matrix proposed by Gallahue and Ozmun. The results show that, in activities that do not require a specific way other physical valences, flexibility can be perceived as a facilitator for the mature motor development of children.
