Longitudinal analysis of sexual dimorphism somatic growth of school children and young people
Abstract
The study of growth somatic development during the ontogenesis of individuals is important because it offers to the health’s professional instruments to base yours action. Then, the aim objective of the study was available the dimorphism sexual in somatic growth, in both sex, in different cohorts of ages. The sample consisted for 212 individuals, being 98 of male sex ans 114 of female sex, divided in 4 cohorts: Cohort 1 – seven to eleven years old, Cohort 2 – eight to eleven years old, Cohort 3 – nine to thirteen years old, Cohort 4 – ten to fourteen years old. The data were collated in Parobé city, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil in the years 1999, 2001 and 2003. In the descriptive analysis were utilized average and standard deviation values. In the inferential analysis were utilized following models: (a) One Way ANOVA and (b) Analysis of repeated measures for three average values. The significance level was 5% and was used the software SPSS for windows. As the principals results, how to dimorphism sexual, don’t was possible to trace a differentiation standard between sex in none variables analyzed, in view of the complexity that if showed the differences in four cohorts. The time had significance influence in average values changes, in the ages, in four cohorts.
