VO2max analysis in athletes convoked to the Brazilian Team of Beach Handball
Abstract
This monograph aims to analyze the VO2max in athletes convoked to the Brazilian team beach handball. As an intermittent sport, it needs a great energy expense. Is necessary that the athlete owns a high VO2max to improve the adenosine triphosphate (ATP) synthesis, can thus remain in the activity more efficiently. For this study was applied the maximum aerobic running test of will-and-coming 20-meter multiple stages. The sample consisted of 14 female athletes, healthy, trained and from the Brazilian team of beach handball, with ages between 18 and 40 years. According to the positions of the game was obtained the following results for VO2max (ml / kg / min): GD= 32.05, GO=41.25; P=38.05; RW=43.25 e LW=39.2 and the average of all athletes is 39.2 ml/kg/min. Comparing the data with the table of VO2max for women, it can be observed that the goalkeepers have a weaker level compared to the others players. It can be verified that the goalkeeper Offence (GO), the right wing (RW), the left wing (LW) and the pivot (P) have a medium VO2máx. It is concluded that the athletes convoked to the Brazilian beach handball, has a median VO2max, it suggests more specific training emphasizing aerobic power (VO2max), and this will help in increasing the performance of athletes.
