Abstract

The objective of the research was to verify the flexibility levels of the posterior muscular chain of regular strength training practitioners, as well as to investigate a combination of classes between gender and BMI with levels of flexibility. This is a quantitative, descriptive, cross-sectional, randomized study developed in four modern physical activity training centers in the city of Fortaleza, Brazil. A total of 981 adults in training strength with physical strength participated in the study, with at least 12 consecutive weeks of training. For the flexibility analysis, the sit-and-reach test, Wells and Dillon protocol, was applied. For the verification of the association of gender, BMI, CER, and % with the use of the Chi-square test. The 95% confidence interval was adopted. The mean age was 32.21 (± 9.33 years), mean of 1.67 (± 0.09 m) and mean BMI of 26.42 (± 4.96 kg / m2), 60.5% (n = 539) represented by the female sex. In both sexes, about 2/3 of frequent abortions are poor or below average. No comparison was obtained with flexibility (p=0.349), comparison with waist height (p = 0.593), and BMI (p=0.069). A combination of fat and flexibility was achieved (p=0.037). Adults who have reason for a sexual urge are flexible, and that sex and a body mass are not associated with flexibility.
