Abstract

Objective: The purpose of this study has been to analyze the body alterations that occurred in different preparatory phases of two bodybuilding athletes for the "II Campeonato de Fisiculturismo"(second bodybuilding contest) in Campo Grande –MS. Methods: Two bodybuilding athletes between the ages of 30 and 38 have been selected from different categories, from these being analyzed the body composition through skin fold measurement, using the Jackson and Pollock protocol for women. The normocaloric diet was divided in different phases throughout the 24 preparatory weeks for the championship. The training process was very complex and done according to specific dieting and resting, with variation in repetition and loads. Discussion: The bodybuilding is about planning different phases from the training program and its periodization, each phase having a distinct goal. The process is only successful if it’s accompanied by adequate nutrition, being compatible with the training program accomplished by the athlete. The use of nutritional supplements associated with a programmed and balanced diet maximizes exercising effects, causing increase in the athletes’ anabolic capacity and lowering the recuperation time between training sessions. Conclusion: The results indicate that, besides biological individuality, special nutrition followed by characteristic training during specific periods shows decrease in body-fat deposits, enhanced by muscular definition.
