Abstract

The aim of the present study was to compare the acute effect of Turkish Get-Up (TGU) and static stretching (SA) on joint mobility in physically active men. Twenty male university students participated in the present study. The subjects were submitted to an AE protocol that consisted of three different movements performed unilaterally with a duration of 30 seconds in two series with an interval of 30 seconds between them. The other protocol was a dynamic stability exercise that is called TGU, which consists of a kettlebell exercise in which the subject must start lying down and transition to a standing position, stabilizing the kettlebell above the head in two repetitions for each side with 30 second interval between sides. The protocols were preceded by a pre-test in the Wells bench with the recording of the best attempt of three opportunities and a post-test and the results were compared. The protocols were carried out through two visits with an interval of one week between them. The results show that in the AE the average difference between the pre-test and post-test was 2.3 cm, while for the TGU it was 4 cm. In this way, the two protocols were able to improve flexibility, but the TGU was superior to the AE.
