Motivational aspects to practice weight among young people 18-25 years in the city of Fortaleza-CE

Abstract

With the growing number of students in bodybuilding gyms, it has become increasingly important to understand the motives that lead them to start in the sport, as well as the factors contributing to its adherence to training. From this understanding, one can target goals and develop strategies to meet the public's wishes and expectations, aiming thereby avoid abandonment by students. The aim of the study was to analyze the motivational factors that lead young people 18-25 years of practice and adherence to weight training. Participated in the study, 22 subjects of both sexes with ages between 18 and 25 years. The places where the interviews were conducted were: a gym located in the Fatima neighborhood and a gym located in Ceará set neighborhood. They were cited as the main reasons for the initial choice of mode the search for aesthetic improvements and the search for health. On the main factors identified as determinants for adhesion in training met as answers improvements in aesthetics and health, besides the feeling of well being and the search for better results. It is concluded that the main factors that motivated individuals to start and join the practice of bodybuilding were the issues related to aesthetics and benefits related to health. Possibly, this fact is connected to the importance and the increasing concern of the population with the care dedicated to the body and appearance.
