Efeitos da suplementação de Whey protein durante o treinamento de força na massa magra: uma revisão sistemática

Resumo

Introdução: A manutenção da massa magra tem sido destacada na literatura pela sua contribuição na qualidade de vida do indivíduo, importante não só na locomoção como também no metabolismo. Estratégias nutricionais têm sido adotadas a fim de provocar aumentos significativos na massa magra nos praticantes de treinamento de força. Uma dessas estratégias refere-se àsuplementação de proteína do soro do leite (whey). Não obstante estudos agudos mostrem eficácia com este tipo de intervenção, este tópico permanece obscurecido. Objetivo: Verificar os efeitos da suplementação de whey durante o treinamento de força na massa magra. Revisão da Literatura: Tratou-se de uma revisão sistemática na qual foram incluídos somente ensaios clínicos randomizados controlados por placebo encontrados na base de dados da PUBMED que atendessem aos critérios estabelecidos. Oito ensaios foramincluídos para a análise final. Seis ensaios não apresentaram diferenças significantes no aumento de massa magra entre o grupo suplementado com whey e o placebo. A discrepância encontrada nos resultados pode ser atribuída ao número relativamente grande defatores existente em protocolos a longo prazo que implicam na manutenção da massa magra. Conclusão: O treinamento de força é um estímulo essencial para que os ganhos de massa magra aconteçam e a manutenção de um estado nutricional adequado favorece estas adaptações. Contudo, a evidência científica atual sugere que a suplementação de whey em indivíduos jovens durante o treinamento de força não apresenta superioridade em relação a outras fontes proteicas ou carboidratos.
