Abstract

Introduction: This presents volleyball moves into its basic fundamentals, involving as an important factor of success or failure to push. Objective: This study aimed to determine changes in the test performance of the horizontal jump volleyball team of the University Salgado de Oliveira which followed 4 weeks of plyometry training with a frequency of three times per week. Materials and methods: The study was conducted by 7 players with average age of 28 years old, using the horizontal push test with and without assistance from the upper to assess the measures with the help of tape and tape adhesive and for the training material was used as the court, the gym bleachers and watch with chronometer. Result: the pre-test training to jump in the average obtained with help of the upper limbs, in centimeters, was 1.80 and jump in with help from members in centimeters above the average was 2.33. After the plyometric training the average, in centimeters, from the jumping without the aid of the upper limbs was 1.90 and jumping in with help from members in centimeters above the average was 2.36. The data on percentage of post-training tests showed increases in average for the horizontal jumping without help from senior members of 5.93% and the horizontal jumping with help of senior members of the average 1.91%. Conclusion: The study showed that the work presents plyometric in improving efficiency for the horizontal thrust of volleyball players.
